100 Blocks Volume 8 Blog Tour - All Square
November 12, 2013
Hello!
Welcome to our day for the Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Blog Tour! I love to be included in the 100 Blocks issues and enjoy all the fun of the blog tour.
My block for Vol. 8 is called All Square
All Square is a really versatile block that can go LOTS of different directions. Below is a straight setting but the middle of each block uses a variety of colors. Great for your scraps! I love the secondary patterns created by the blocks in this layout.
Or, turn the block on point.
A whole new look by keeping the blocks on point but changing the setting and corner fabric.
Or, add both vertical and horizontal sashing
Another example of two very different looks are the two pictures below. The first is of my block from Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Vol. 5 called Bingo and the second is of a quilt made from the Bingo block. The original block was made with bright, vibrant fabrics.
And, the quilt has an entirely different feel with soft, calming earthtones.
Like so many other blocks and patterns, the sky is the limit with these blocks. Depending on fabric choices and fabric placement the same block or pattern can look so amazingly different. Which is why we love to build up our stash, right?!?
For this blog tour we will be giving away TWO copies of Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Vol. 8. We will also be giving away 2 patterns from our shop. You can check out the patterns here. For a total of 3 different winners. Simply leave a comment and your email address to be entered. I usually keep the comments open to whatever you would like to share so feel free to let us know anything. Some of the comments from previous blog tours have been really interesting and informative. :-) You can also stop by our Facebook page and "Like" it for another entry. If you are already a facebook fan leave us a comment on our page as your second entry. The giveaway will be open until 11:00 am (CST) on Saturday, November 16th.
Have fun exploring the other blogs on the tour and thank you again for stopping by!
Cheers!
Your block is beautiful and so versatile. I'm a newby quilter so the inspiration to see how blocks work with different colours and orientation is really helpful. Congratulations on being included in the magazine - a very worthy entry and love your blog.

Great block -- I love the fact that there are so many secondary designs! And your "Bingo" block looks like a fun way to use up lots of scraps I've collected from making charity quilts.

Honestly, I think your block is one of my favorites so far. I particularly like the flexibility of this block. I usually don't want my quilt to look just like the one the pattern cover and yours has so many options for individuality. Great job! svonfumetti(at)yahoo(dot)com
