100 Blocks Vol 8

My block for Vol. 8 is called All Square

All Square

All Square is a really versatile block that can go LOTS of different directions. Below is a straight setting but the middle of each block uses a variety of colors. Great for your scraps! I love the secondary patterns created by the blocks in this layout.

Or, turn the block on point.

A whole new look by keeping the blocks on point but changing the setting and corner fabric.

Or, add both vertical and horizontal sashing

Another example of two very different looks are the two pictures below. The first is of my block from Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Vol. 5 called Bingo and the second is of a quilt made from the Bingo block. The original block was made with bright, vibrant fabrics.

And, the quilt has an entirely different feel with soft, calming earthtones.

Like so many other blocks and patterns, the sky is the limit with these blocks. Depending on fabric choices and fabric placement the same block or pattern can look so amazingly different. Which is why we love to build up our stash, right?!?

For this blog tour we will be giving away TWO copies of Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Vol. 8. We will also be giving away 2 patterns from our shop. You can check out the patterns here. For a total of 3 different winners. Simply leave a comment and your email address to be entered. I usually keep the comments open to whatever you would like to share so feel free to let us know anything. Some of the comments from previous blog tours have been really interesting and informative. :-) You can also stop by our Facebook page and "Like" it for another entry. If you are already a facebook fan leave us a comment on our page as your second entry. The giveaway will be open until 11:00 am (CST) on Saturday, November 16th.

Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Tour

Hello!

Today is my day on the Quiltmakers 100 Blocks Blog Tour and I'm excited to again be included in another great 100 blocks issue!

My block is a scrappy, lively block called Paris Square. It's a great block for scraps. For this block the scrappier the better!

This issue has a great designer gallery full of quilts and table runners using some of the blocks in volume 7. Below is my Paris Square quilt. I used different lines from Art Gallery Fabrics for my block and the quilt. I quilted it with a large chevron pattern and love how bright and springy the quilt looks.

Here is the block set on-point with sashing. I've been gathering my scraps and have this one on my to-do list.

You can also like the Harding Hill Designs facebook page for a second entry, or leave a comment on facebook if you've already "liked" our page. You can leave anything you'd like in the comments. If you're not sure what to write in the comments you could tell us when you started quilting or what are you working on right now? What is your all-time favorite fabric collection or what is your favorite color to use in your quilts?  You can tell us anything! :-)

A quilt called Bingo Crazy by Reesa Zuber features our Bingo Block. Stop by and check out the awesome quilts! Also, make sure you stop by the other blogs on the blog tour for lots of great giveaways and amazing creativity.

My block is called Bingo and features Robert Kaufman's, Treasures and Tidbits by Piece O' Cake Designs. Don't you love the bright colors of this collection!

This is a block that can be bright and cheery or understated and desaturated. It can also go some different directions with the layout and borders. I think it's a great catch-all block for whatever you have in your stash!

As I mentioned earlier in this post, there are great giveaways on this blog tour. I am giving away a copy of the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks. To throw your name in the hat just leave me a comment before noon (CST) Monday May, 7th about anything you'd like. In the past in the comments we've talked about Miracle Whip vs. Mayo, (which is where I learned about Dukes Mayo), our favorite seasons, long walks on the beach and more. I'd love to hear about anything...tell us about what your working on now, how you've seen quilting change since you've made your first quilt, or what your first quilt was- did you use a pattern or just jump right in and improvise, which layout using the Bingo block do you like best? You don't have to answer all those questions but if you'd like to answer any of them I love to hear from you! You can also hop over and like our facebook page for an extra entry.

If this is your first time here, thanks for dropping in! Hope you all have a great time with this blog tour!

Cheers & Happy Quilting!

We got a bingo!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and left us a wonderful comment! It is always so great to hear from our readers!

The lucky winner for our giveaway was #30- sandy. She said her favorite was Block Hop...which seemed to be the most popular choice!

I hope everyone is getting a chance to enjoy fall & all the great things that come with it. Fall is such a great time of year! Our day for the Quilting Gallery Christmas Quilt-Along is September 27th. Stop back & check out our block, but in the meantime check out the blocks so far.
